We are P.H.A.T.T.!

Highline College Physics Club LogoThe Physics Club at Highline is officially known as the Physics Highline Association of Thinkers and Tinkerers or P.H.A.T.T! And is open to all STEM majors. We are a student-run club that has even been recognized at the national level for being a distinguished physics club chapter in WA state. Come and join us and check out the projects we have done below.

If you are interested in attending a meeting or learning more e-mail faculty advisor, Dr. Aleya Dhanji at adhanji@highline.edu

Who Are We?

  • A community of students interested in understanding how and why things work by tinkering and exploring the principles that govern the Universe.
  • We enjoy experimenting, trying new things, building, coding, science, tech, nature, outreach, games, and spending time with each other.
  • You don’t have to be a physics major to join though! Everyone pursuing any STEM degree can join! Our group is composed of astronomy, biology, CS, engineering, and other STEM majors.
  • No experience with STEM necessary! If you have passion or curiosity – that is all that is needed. We support each other in learning new things.

We Are an Award-Winning Club

  • Our parent organization is the Society of Physics Students which also offers events, resources and scholarships.
  • Highline has been recognized as a Notable Chapter in 2001 and then a Distinguished Chapter in 2021.
  • Less than 10% of chapters nationwide, and very few community college chapters, receive this honor.
  • We also were the only SPS chapter in the Pacific NW region to get the designation in 2021.
